The Lairig Ghru

The Scottish Alpine Pass...

A walk on the wild side through one of the few alpine-style passes found in the UK, running from the Linn of Dee near Braemar through to Aviemore. The walk can be done directly over two days, however, there is potential to expand the walk into a mini-expedition, taking in ridges, Munros and coires....exploring the wild of the Cairngorms.

During the walk we hope to stay in one of Scotlands mountain bothies*, providing a unique evening for those who have never experienced the wonders of these remote refuges.

One of our favourites - Make it three days, adding an additional night in the Lairig Ghru. During the additional day we will head for Angels Peak (Sgor an Lochan Uaine) via the Angels Ridge, a lovely grade 1 (easy) scramble, then on to Cairn Toul & the Devils' Point, rounding off three Munros and earning your evening dram.

Beyond the stunning scenery of the Cairngorms, we hope to see beautiful flora & fauna, interesting geology and on occasion in Scotland, a little bit of blue sky!

*Tents will also be taken in case the bothy is fully occupied.
