After all, your map doesn't have batteries and will get you home! Here we offer a range of navigation courses, from the basic to advanced, to help grow your confidence in map reading and navigation.
We also offer courses in campcraft and wild camping, helping give you the knowledge and skills required to take your overnight experiences beyond the campsite and in to the more remote areas of our beautiful countryside.

Intro to Navigation
Aimed at those with a little to no navigation background, this course is about the basics and building confidence in your map reading and navigational skills. |
Advanced Navigation
Taking your navigation to the next level, we look at more advanced techniques for navigation off-path and in more complicated terrain. |
Night navigation
When the sun goes down, keep going! Here we look at techniques to help you navigate through the night or poor visibility. |
Wild Camping
This course is designed to give you the basic campcraft skills and confidence to take your camping to the wild areas of our mountains on multi-day adventures.....Who needs a campsite! |
Hammocking
Seen as Old-School by some, yet hammocks can be an amazing way to spend the night outdoors. Here we spend the night hanging in the trees and cooking on some classic stoves. |
Cycling/Bike Skills
With the growing popularity of cycling, both on and off road, it is important to be sure you are following best practices and have the skills required to ride in your chosen environments. Here we offer a selection of Cycling Scotland accredited courses to help build your riding confidence. We run these courses periodically with open sign ups, but they can also be run as a custom course at a time that suits you. Essential Cycling Skills (ECS)
This course is designed to build road confidence. We look at various aspects of road riding, from simple manoeuvres to busy traffic, complicated junctions and cycling best practices. |
ECS plus Basic Bike Maintenance
This is an extended version of our ECS course which also looks at basic bike maintenance, from regular bike checks to basic road-side fixes to get you home. |
Go Mountain Bike (GoMTB) GoMTB is a Cycling Scotland introductory course focused on basic mountain bike skills, but also looking at outdoor best practice & the outdoor access code, first aid and being a self-supported, independent rider. |
