Mountain biking is a relatively young sport in the outdoor community, however, it is one of the fastest growing, with new dedicated trail centres popping up across the UK, along with more people simply exploring our fantastic countryside on two wheels. Mountain biking is a fantastic way to enjoy our outdoor spaces.
Listed below are a handful of rides we have chosen that we believe showcase some of the best introductory riding around Edinburgh and the Lothians, with the occasional ride further afield for something extra special. However, there is an almost infinite number of possibilities available when it comes to building a route, therefore, we are more than happy to modify any of these routes to suit a more convenient start location perhaps; or you may wish to have slightly less (or more!!!?) climbing in a route. We are also more than happy to build and guide completely custom routes anywhere in the country. If it involves exploring on a bike, count us in to help!

The Pentland Hills
Situated on Edinburgh's doorstep, and a regular playground for many local residents, are the Pentland Hills. Although not as large as the famous Highlands, the local hills are filled with fantastic trails, hills, glens and reservoirs to explore, all within easy reach of the Scottish capital. There are a number of possible start locations for our day, however, we have no prescribed route. We aim to build a custom route to suit each group, covering as much of the Pentland Hills as possible within the ability of the group, and the time permitted. Routes can range from a gentle 15km up to our monster 50km Reservoirs Route, taking you on a grand tour of the Pentland Hills Regional Park. |
